I read somewhere that an ounce of gold across time can be measured by always reflecting the cost of a mans custom tailored suit in regards to the cost of 1 oz. Now I have to say this is probably a damn near perfect fit and would be a great exercise for a quant over time to decipher, but I can tell you today a custom fit Canali will run you $2800 or more so have to say there is some logic behind the madness of Gold!

Interesting! It's makes a lot of sense though. The problem is that wearing a suit may one day go out of fashion, but gold never will.
