Good morning – here are your five chart for the day. Each one comes snap stat, quick take and why it matters. Skim, steal, forward (but always credit!!).

The refugee crisis continues to deepen, China global favourability seems to be improving, while America's college towns are facing an economic crisis. Today's charts exposes the forces reshaping geopolitics and American society.

CHART 1 • Global displacement reaches 120 million breaking point

The world's refugee crisis has exploded beyond all capacity to manage it. Over 120 million people are now forcibly displaced, including 45.3 million refugees, 73.5 million internally displaced and 5.9 million Palestinians. Venezuela leads with 7.6 million refugees, followed by Syria and Afghanistan at 6.1 million each, while Ukraine adds 4.5 million from the Russian invasion in 2022.

Snap stat – Global forced displacement reached 120 million people in 2024.

Quick take – Humanitarian system hits breaking point as displacement doubles over past decade.

Why it matters – Mass displacement reshapes global politics while straining host nations' resources.

Steal-this-caption – "120 million people now live as refugees – is the system is breaking?" #FiveChartsDaily
